oct2005 -- They performed some control burn activities right along the trail just a few days before my hike. I received permission from Donna at the Gunflint Ranger station to hike the trail, which had been closed earlier in the week due to the fires. I really enjoyed the burns, but must admit I was disappointed that many were small and didn't particularly burn well.
